چکیده
Introduction: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a common procedure is not without complications, and bile spillage can cause surgical site infection (SSI). There no local evidence in our hospital setting.
Objective: The objective of this study was to find the prevalence among non-spillage patients following laparoscopic cholecystectomy at BMCTH
Methodology: A hospital-based cross-sectional conducted from 25 February 2021 August surgery department BMCTH. We enrolled 120 through total enumeration technique who underwent cholecystectomy. all eligible participants were more than 18 years excluding having age >75 years, acute calculous cholecystitis, cholangitis and/or obstructive jaundice, previous biliary tract surgery, or Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus taking immunosuppressive drugs immunosuppressed conditions like HIV/AIDS. assessed on 7th postoperative day.
Results: Among undergoing majority female 92(76.7%) 40-50 group 65(54.2%). Bile found 27(22.5%) 93(77.5%). (SSI) be 7.5% which 25.9% 2.2%. odds SSI 15.9 times statistically significant (p <0.05). pus culture predominant organism as Staphylococcus aureus 6(66.7%) followed by Escherichia coli 3(33.3%). indications symptomatic cholelithiasis 95(79.1%) chronic calculus cholecystitis 15(12.5%), gall bladder polyp 8(6.7%) stone pancreatitis 2(1.7%).
Conclusion: More two almost one out ten had respectively. significantly higher number should concern surgeons. need extra careful with for infection.

متن کاملAbdominal Wall Sinus: A Late Complication of Gallstone Spillage During Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Long term complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy are uncommon. However, as experience with this procedure accumulates, sporadic reports of non-biliary complication have been published. We report a case of abdominal wall sinus formation secondary to gallbladder perforation and stone spillage occurring during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
متن کاملIntra-Hepatic Spillage of Gallstones as a Late Complication of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: MR Imaging Findings
BACKGROUND Spillage of gallstones in the abdominal cavity may rarely occur during the course of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Dropped gallstones in the peritoneal and extra-peritoneal cavity are usually asymptomatic. However, they may lead to abscess formation with an estimated incidence of about 0.3%. Common locations of the abscess are in the abdominal wall followed by the intra-abdominal cav...
متن کاملPara-spinal abscess following gallstones spillage during laparoscopic cholecystectomy: an unusual presentation
Gallbladder perforation with subsequent gallstone spillage can occur with higher frequency in laparoscopic cholecystectomy than in traditional open approach. Gallstone abscess formation from stone spillage post-cholecystectomy is extremely rare. We present a case of para-spinal abscess formation 5 years after spilled gallstones following laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Spillage of gallstones in the peritoneal cavity during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) occurs at rates varying from 5.7% to 16%. These gallstones often cannot be retrieved and can cause early and late abscesses at rates ranging from 0.08% to 1.4%. The case of an 86-year-old woman with colon cancer is described because during an elective right hemicolectomy a granuloma of the omentum with reta...
